    Search the Web

The search engines below are the most popular on the net and provide surfers with millions of results every day. I have placed quick searches of these engines to help you speed up your surf of the net.

Alta Vista is probably the biggest and most popular search engine on the net, and a lot of smaller search engines utilise Alta Vista's extensive database.

Excite offers the ability to search for general news, stock reports and even the weather.

Infoseek allows you to seach for news, companies and the usenet (newsgroups).

Lycos allows you to seach for pictures, sounds and even recipes.

Magellan reviews and rates web sites, and allows you to restrict your search to the reviewed sites only, which provides in general web sites of a high quality.

Yahoo is not just a simple search engine, Yahoo organises all web sites into categories, allowing you to browse through a list of sites with similar content.
